In the 1960s, photographers turned the camera into a device for introspection, into a private diary. They captured the most banal images from day-to-day life as well as extreme experiences. But can the intimate really be photographed?

La photographie a donnée naissance à une nouvelle mémoire visuelle, faite de milliards d'images. Des photographes vont s’en emparer et faire de la collecte et du détournement de photos prises par d’autres le sujet de leur propre travail. Dans les années 80 on appellera cela "l’appropriation art".
Found Images
Photography gave birth to a new type of visual memory, made up of billions of images. Photographers appropriated these images and made collecting and diverting photographs taken by others the subject of their own work. In the 1980s, this was referred to as “appropriation art”.

After Photography
Will photography survive the 21st century? The disappearance of film photography and the unlimited possibilities of digital photography have drastically changed the relationship between photography and reality. Faced with this new situation, some photographers are experimenting with the latest technologies, while others are breaking free from them, with an alternative, deliberately “Low Tech” photography.
